Drone crash at US Open

It really doesn’t take a genius to be an idiot…Yet, plenty of seemingly smart people are trying to prove otherwise.

Our latest Drone Idiot move is by Daniel Verley, 26, a teacher at the Academy of Innovative Technology in Brooklyn who now faces charges of reckless endangerment and operating a drone in a New York City public park outside of a prescribed area.

The teacher flew the his drone over the court in Louis Armstrong stadium on Thursday night before crashing into the seats. US Tennis Association spokesman Chris Widmaier said no one was injured.

Why did it crash?  Nobody is sure as of yet, but chances are good, the teach flew the drone into one of the various bleacher structures and lost control of the drone.

Also not clear is where exactly teacher, himself, was.  It is hard to believe he got a drone through security, so he probably flew the drone in while he was outside of the facility somewhere.

This is yet another example of how making something that is actually complex, so simple that it can be dangerous.
