Many people (especially in the USA) will read this article on the 100,000 drones in Britain causing airline problem and think it is over blown.

Something many don’t realize is how prolific “plane spotters” are in Europe.

If you’ve ever flown in Britain, you might have noticed there will be small crowds of people along the fence viewing the runway.

People will track the tail number that landed or took off.

They also take pictures for plane spotting websites.

Yep, it’s a hobby.

Now, for that hobbyist to take it up a notch isn’t surprising, and pictures from a drone…even better…right?

This is where I see it being a different issue than in the USA.

There is likely a higher density of drones around airports in Britain due to this phenomenon.
